Social Bookmarking, Pinterest and Social Media Tools for Business

What is Social Media? What is Social Bookmarking? Can it Help Me Grow My Business?

Facebook is NOT a good business tool, unless you incorporate it into a valid Social Media Marketing strategy! I teach the two levels of Social Media. Level 1 being the keyword-rich content and Level-2, the share.

Social Media Marketing, SEO, WordPress and Social Bookmarking
If you've ever wondered how the "SEO Gurus" seem to be able to get pages to the top of a Google search? One of the tools they use is Social Media.

As mentioned above, the first thing needed is relevant, keyword-rich, target market, valuable content. Then this Level-1 content is shared across many Level-2 Social Media tools like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and Social Bookmarking sites such as Digg, Delicious, Reddit and StumbleUpon.

But does this really work to build your business? The answer is yes! You are able to level the playing field and even dominate Google Search with a great Social Media Marketing strategy that includes keyword-rich Social Media Level-1 content, followed by posting such content on the Social Media Level-2 sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Digg, Delicious, Reddit and StumbleUpon, among many others.

This strategy does work to increase traffic to your website and other sites and to grow your sales and profits! As I say in my courses, it's about "Social Media Domination".

If you are in Miami or South Florida you can take my courses in Social Media Mastery, SEO, Local Social Media, Email Marketing, WordPress and other business building courses.  Just follow some of the links below to get more information.

Your Old School Marketing Ideas Are Dead! Get a New Marketing Life and Your Business Will Thrive!

Your Old School Marketing Ideas are Dead!

You've got to get a New Marketing life or your business will die! It's funny how universities are still using the same 50 year old text book with the $150 price tag. BUt what's not funny is that these same universities don't seem to be embracing New Marketing ideas and concepts that have become the real tools to grow your business in the 21st century!

We are in the New World, of New Media and New Marketing. You must embrace the New Tools and technologies, understand them and master them! Once you do, your business world begins to open up. New revenue sources begin to appear! Your profits begin to soar! Your bank account begins to grow!

Don't embrace New Marketing and your business withers away! Customers don't appear! Your business dies a quick death! Lets look at some of these "New Marketing" concepts and lets watch your business blossom!

Sale is a Four Letter S Word!

Stop "selling" and start Marketing! As a matter of fact, never say the "S" word again. Anytime you feel like saying the "S" word replace it with the "M" word; Marketing. This alone will change your life! "Selling" in the New Marketing world is dead!

Social Media is NOT the Answer!

It's strange to hear that from a person who teaches Social Media, SEO and Internet Marketing, but you've got to deprogram your mind from an Orwellean concept that Facebook and Twitter will save your business. They won't!

The problem with Facebook is that no one is listening! Your hope of going "viral" are empty dreams of business nirvana that never seem to appear. Social Media Marketing can work, but it's got to be done right! The ROI of Social Media done wrong is most definitely negative.  I'm not saying give up on Social Media. I'm saying that you must understand it, learn it properly and know which are the right Social Media tools that will create positive ROI for your business.

The Secret is in the ROI!

The secret to any marketing tool you choose to test is to measure Return On Investment (ROI). Any marketing tool can work. Even the old school ones such as the yellow pages, radio or TV, flyers can work, but never throw your precious marketing budget at any media without having a way to measure it's ROI.  Here are some simple steps for using and measuring ROI:

  • Capture the Numbers
  • Set Up a Measuring Tool for Income, Profit and Expense
  • Know Where Your Sales are Coming From
  • Calculate the ROI = Profit / Expense > 1.0

If the ROI is greater than 1.0 then it's a good campaign. If it's less than 1.0 then move on to the next marketing tool do the same! Never continue to throw money at marketing tools that generate negative ROI.

There's a lot more to New Marketing. We've only touched upon a very small part of the New Marketing concepts. I'll continue to bring new blog postings that educate and entertain and takes your business to the next level!

Social Media and Local Directories to Grow Your Business

Over 367.5 million smartphones sold in the fourth quarter of 2014, Local Business Marketing, especially the use of Social Media Local Search Tools, are increasingly important to the successful growth of your business.

Local Business Marketing

In old school marketing the first choice to market your local business was the yellow pages, and I mean the book! Although the yellow pages are not quite dead yet, it is certainly not the first choice in New Marketing.  So what are the New Tools for growing your local business? Local Directories Marketing.

Local Directories Marketing is the positioning tool of New Marketing.  It's the tool that can make a difference in your sales and ultimately in the success of your business.

Why Local Directories Marketing:

Local Directories Listings are Great for SEO

Google and your smartphone love Local Directories Listings such as Google Places, Yelp, Merchant Circle, YP.com and others. These sites get indexed faster are displayed as part of the Search Engine Result Page (SERP) quickly and often.

Your job is to post the profile of your business on as many high ranking (PR) sites as possible. Its important that your profile is complete, professional and written with relevant keywords at hand.  Complete all the sections that you are given by the Local Directory, including profile picture, hours of operation, videos, etc.

Living with the NAP

One very important aspect of your online Local Directory profiles as that the NAP, Name, Address and Phone number be consistent across all sites!

Local Directories Listings are Great for Authority

Local Directories Listings demonstrate to Google what's called "authority". Authority is demonstrated to Google by having highly reputable sites linking back to yours. Google uses "authority" in it's algorithm to determine which pages to serve on search results.

Everything is Going Local

With the grow of smartphone and other tech device usage on the rise, more people are going online to find businesses like your and to cast reviews and share their thought, ideas, photographs and more.  This means that you have no choice if you want to be the leader in your field but to Get Going on Local. Local Directories Marketing will have a tremendous impact on the growth of your business. Beat your competition to the punch Get Local before they do or else you'll be the one getting left behind! P.S. Local Directories Marketing is sometimes called hyper-local marketing.

Why You Don't Need a Facebook Page for Your Business

The first thing you hear from social media "experts" is that you need a Facebook Page for your business. But why do you need a tool where 99 percent of what you post is never seen by anyone? So you get a Facebook Page opened. You make it pretty by branding it with your logo, image, colors and slogan. You then tell all your friends and visitors to "Like" your page and you manage to get 300 Likes to your page. Now what? How is your Facebook page important to your business?... Well, it's not!

A normal Facebook Page will only serve to use up your time and money, unless...  Unless your create an iFrame for your Facebook Page. An iframe page encompasses the C.C.E.(TM) formula.  The C.C.E.(TM) makes your Facebook Page a practical, real business tool for growing your database, getting your visitors to take an action getting them to engage with you.

The C.C.E.(TM) Formula stands for:

  • C - Capture
  • C - Call to Action
  • E - Engagement
With this formula implemented on your Facebook Page you can Capture leads and add them to a CRM or other databases. You get the visitor to your page to take an Action. And you create an Engagement, or communication with the visitor. All this leads to real return on investment for your business.

There are many ways to create a Facebook Page iframe style page.  One of the easiest (and free) ways is an app from Facebook called Woobox. Woobox installs in minutes and lets you create and practical Facebook Page Tab where you can direct traffic instead of your Timeline, and get real results by putting the C.C.E.(TM) formula to work for you! See Figure 1.1 for sample.

Social Media Certification: Should Your Social Media Strategy Include It?

What is Social Media Certification? Online certificate programs have sprung up all over, but does a good social media strategy include social media certification?

Social media jobs are growing rapidly and social media management salaries are growing along with social media management positions. According to a Career Builder Salary article, republished on New Media, New Marketing's blog, a Social Media Manager's average is $106,160.00.

I've seen social media certificate programs priced from $97 but what they offer are online courses that show you how to open a Facebook account, or other nonsensical subjects.

A good social media management certification program, besides showing interested parties what is social media, can improve employability and increase their income.

Social Media Certification | Get Certified in Social Media!
"Our Certified Social Media Marketing Specialist (TM) program teaches real social media management skills and can lead to getting better social media jobs or, with our emphasis on entrepreneurship, starting a lucrative social media marketing business" - Manny Sarmiento

Yes, Social Media Marketing Certification should be a part of your social media strategy and your life. The New World of New Media and New Marketing will undoubtedly include the skills you can acquire with a real, practical, social media marketing certification educational program.

Whether you are looking for a better paying job, or interested in starting an in-demand, lucrative Web 2.0 business, Social Media Marketing Certification is the way to go.

I invite you to explore our Certified Social Media Marketing Specialist (TM) CSMMS(TM) program at www.CertificationInSocialMedia.com. My Certification program is real and teaches you the right social media strategies and skills.

The Secret to Google Search, SEO and Getting Your Business Found Online

The Secret to Google Search, SEO and Getting Your Business Found Online

In my seminars I ask the question; "Would Anyone Here Like to Know the Secret to Google?" The answer is a resounding "YES".  So then I answer; "The Secret to Google is...". And I pause for a moment!

The Secret to Google is, that there is no Secret to Google. All that Google wants is that you provide them the following:

A Real, Relevant, Keyword Rich, Target Market website!

Google actually wants you to rank high in the search engine result page. Their main goal is to provide searchers the most Relevant, Real results related to the search term typed into the search box. It's not necessarily a "nice" thing they are doing with you in mind. By serving up the most relevant results in the results page, along with ads, Google assures their continued billion dollar revenue.

So there are two things to learn from this posting.

First, it is possible to get to the top of Google
Second, no one can promise you #1 on Google

And there are two things you need to do with your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy.

First, stop paying for monthly optimization
Second, learn SEO
Third, optimize your website the right way
Fourth, begin a real, practical Social Media Marketing

If you live in the South Florida area I offer live DIY-SEO Search Engine Optimization courses on a monthly basis.  Or you can purchase the DIY-SEO Search Engine Optimization DVD course at the link below for $47.

Create a Social Media Marketing Machine

Create a Social Media Marketing Machine

By Miami Phillips

Social media marketing. What the heck is that exactly?

As someone who has been marketing socially for years I can tell you there is no one single answer for that.

This we know. Many people are dramatically changing their lives by earning amazing incomes from home by following some simple steps.

We can define marketing as "using words and images to sell products or services".

So basically marketing is sales in print. Of course, now we use audio and video as well as text, but we are still doing the same thing. That is we are convincing someone to buy or do something!

Social marketing is simply using the power of 'social' sites to do the exact same thing.

Social sites include any site where people gather in a group and offers an opportunity for a marketer to introduce products and services.

Anyone can do it - and they do! Unfortunately, most do it badly which hurts those of us who know how to market correctly.

There are unspoken and unwritten rules concerning marketing that most marketers ignore at their peril (no business = no profit!)

My purpose is to help you (if you are interested) sidestep these challenges as best I can and show you the path to creating an income providing a sorely needed service - great marketing.

Social media marketing can greatly improve your bottom line - but if not done correctly can hurt you just as badly!

Here are 3 ways NOT to use social media marketing...

1. Do not use social media marketing to make false claims or false statements. This is a bad idea anyway as almost anything you say on the Internet stays around forever! So do not write things you might ever want to retract!

2. Make sure you follow up on your marketing. Many failures attributed to social media marketing are actually failures in the original creators to take advantage of the many tools available to document what is working, where it is working and with whom. Armed with this information it is much easier to target your next piece of marketing.

3. Ensure your marketing is omnipresent. It is much more challenging to get your message heard if you broadcast to multiple social media platforms at once using tools readily available. For instance pingfm.com will broadcast your short messages to all of your social accounts at once.

Here is the good news. Social media marketing has not been taken over by the big guys - yet.

But they are coming. And when they figure it out - the little guys will be sucking hind you know what!

So if you are thinking this is the time to take advantage of a phenomenal opportunity that will only come once in a lifetime - you are absolutely correct. And I suggest you get to it!

Is Social Media Marketing Important? The Queen of England Herself Has Joined Facebook!

Is Social Media Marketing Important? The Queen of England Herself Has Joined Facebook!

By Courtney Jewell-McElroy

Yes, it's true. The Queen herself, Queen Elizabeth the II has realized that Social Media is an important communication tool.

The Huffington Post reported this past week that Queen Elizabeth is now on Facebook.
According to the release in the Huffington, the Queen has launched a series of official pages offering the website's 500 million users daily updates on her engagements.

The Queen (an 84-year-old British monarch) plans to be featured in videos, photos and news items all of which will be released on her new Social Media Marketing profile on Facebook.

The Queens Facebook page was scheduled to go live today. Princes William and Harry have been very active on Social Media and one can only speculate that those activities played a role in the Queens decision to jump on this networking bandwagon.

The Facebook Fan Page will be a corporate account, so people will be able leave messages or comments for Buckingham Palace on the site and find details of royal events close to their homes. Because the Queen has chosen to create a corporate Facebook page - and not a personal account - people won't be able to request to become friends with the queen.

A royal official was quoted stating "If you are going to have an online presence in 2010, you just have to be on Facebook."

The Facebook page is the Queen's latest social media venture - the Royal Family already has an account on the Flickr photography website, joined Twitter in 2009 and set up a video channel on YouTube in 2007.
This is just another example of what an important communications tool Social Media is and it pays to be there and be posting consistent quality content that includes articles, images, videos and more. For more information about Social Media marketing visit http://www.assureassess.com/.

8 Steps to Creating Your Social Media Marketing Plan

8 Steps to Creating Your Social Media Marketing Plan

By Kathy Colaiacovo

Creating and online marketing strategy is vital when making the decision to add social media to your marketing campaigns/plans. A plan is needed to assess the viability, know what steps you will need to take and to aid you in staying focused on your goals.

Your plan can also help you save time by ensuring you follow a systematic approach to the tie you will invest in social marketing and network. The social networking part can easily take you off track and eat up your time if you do not pay attention to the overall picture of what you are trying to accomplish.

Here are the basics steps to any social media plan we setup for clients:

Assess

Look at what is available in your market, what competitors are doing and find out if your customers in fact using these social media channels. These answers may help you determine the goals

Purpose

Define your main purpose for using Social Media and identify the various social media channels to use.

Goals

Set at least 3 SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) goals and create an action plan to help you reach these goals. What steps will you take to reach these goals.

Content

Create a plan for what content will be published - blog posts, tweets, facebook page updates, youtube videos. This plan should include the topic of content and also how often and via what channel it will be published

Keywords

Part of the content planning would be finding the keywords your customers use when searching for your service or product online. If your business has some technical jargon that customers rarely pick up on - it is unlikely that is how they will search online for the solution to their problem (your service or product). It is imperative to find keywords they are using and add these targeted key words into your content..

Optimize

Look at all the platforms available and link them together as much as possible to help you save time. ie. Link your blog to twitter and your facebook page so when a blog post is published it will automatically feed an update to the other networks. Be certain to make a flowchart so you understand what automatically goes to what network in order to avoid any cross posting.

Track

As much as you can track your results do it. Keep a record of your contacts/ facebook friends/page likes/twitter followers/linked in contact /newsletter subscribers and results on Google for your name, business and keywords. Check the results every month and see how it changes. Read your analytics on your website and adjust keywords/tactics to fit with what is working well or not form these reports. With social media marketing, businesses may set goals related to brand identity and levels of engagement.

Schedule

Take time to schedule in all the aspects of your plan and work at it to keep on top of it and following the plan. Stay focused and use your time wisely.

Following these steps will help you network much more effectively and in a way that does not find you looking up from your computer wondering where the last hour went. Stay focused!
